DAY
1 | Mon 28 July 08 . . . let’s fly to Perth! You will be met at Sydney
Airport by your Tour Director, who will accompany you on your Qantas flight to
Perth. You will be transferred to the Mercure Hotel right in the middle of the
city and then have the afternoon to shop, explore or just relax. (L,D) DAY
2 | Tues 29 July 08 . . . Swan River cruise to Fremantle! Perth is
a city of phenomenal natural beauty and historic architecture, we explore aspects
of this beautiful city during the morning, before our cruise down the Swan River
to Fremantle. Fremantle is an historic city that was transformed by the America’s
Cup. The choice of activity is yours, use the time to visit many of the museums
(the Maritime Museum, the Historic Boats Museum, the Energy Museum or the Shell
Museum), take a tram tour down the Cappuccino Strip for an alfresco snack or a
full lunch from the many restaurants available. Return to Perth. (B,D) DAY
3 | Wed 30 July 08 . . . grapes and wine! We travel south through some
of the best grape growing country in Australia to Bunbury, Busselton and the Margaret
River. Taste local wines at a special wine tasting arranged for you. Overnight
at All Seasons Hotel. (B,L,D) DAY 4 | Thurs 31 July 08
. . . whale oil and history! Travelling further south we experience Australia’s
most southwest point at Cape Leeuwin before making our way to Pemberton and the
famous Gloucester Tree. We travel through giant Tingle forests to Walpole where
we experience the Valley of the Giants Treetops Walk. Then its on through Denmark
to Albany. This once famous whaling town has so much to offer, it is “a beautiful
town in a beautiful setting”; we have free time to explore before our visit to
Whale World; a fascinating whaling museum, created from an operational whaling
station. Experience Albany’s seafaring history first hand, before making our way
to the Dog Rock Motel. (B,L,D) DAY 5 | Fri 1 August 08
. . . white sand and turquoise waters! We have free time to explore this
vital town before we set off through Ravensthorpe, once a great gold and copper
mining town, to Esperance and a visit to the nearby Cape Le Grand NP. We experience
the white sand beaches and turquoise waters together with the unique rock formations.
Overnight stay at the Bay of Isles Motel. (B,L,D) DAY 6
| Sat 2 August 08 . . . the vast Nullarbor! Today we challenge one
of the last great frontiers, the Nullarbor. This vast treeless plain is the essence
of our challenging the unknown outback. But there will be much to see; we take
breaks along the beautifully rugged coastline of the Great Australian Bight searching
for the migration of humpback whales. Today we pass through Balladonia (the site
of Skylab’s fall from space) and Cocklebiddy (where you’ll see a real tree) before
reaching Madura for our overnight stay. (B,L,D) DAY 7 |
Sun 3 August 08 . . . whales everywhere! We pass through Border Village
into South Australia to the Head of the Bight where the whales will be frolicking
below the cliffs. There will be many Southern Right whales and, possibly, Humpbacks
with calves for us to enjoy. Then it’s on to Ceduna and our stay at the East West
Motel. (B,L,D) Day 8 | Mon 4 August 08 . . . Mallee
wheat country! Travelling through the vast wheat fi elds of the Eyre Peninsula
past Port Augusta into the beautiful Clare Valley for our stay at the Clare Valley
Motor Inn. (B,L,D) Day 9 | Tues 5 August 08 . . . heading
home! Today we travel into Adelaide ready to catch our return flights to Sydney,
Canberra or Melbourne. (B,L,D) You’ll return with new friends
