Travel to Derby for optional fl ights over the Buccaneer Archipelago to land at the Horizontal Waterfall. Two nights in Broome, swim and enjoy champagne at sunset on Cable Beach. DAY 1 | Wed 7 May 08 | Nyngan . . . heading into the outback! We depart from Sydney and travel over the Blue Mountains to Bathurst and to the beautiful city of Orange, then on to Dubbo and Nyngan staying at the Nyngan Outback Motor Inn. (D)

DAY 2 | Thurs 8 May 08 | Charleville . . . going back’o’Bourke! We make our way to Bourke for a tour of this vibrant place so rich in history and so dynamic in agriculture - both ensure its future. We have lunch in Bourke then settle back for our drive into western Queensland. We reach the border and the township of Enngonia and Barringun, then Cunnamulla and on to Charleville for our stay at the Mulga Country Motor Inn. (B,L,D)

DAY 3 | Fri 9 May 08 | Longreach . . . cattle, pioneers & Qantas! Today we explore Tambo, Blackall and Barcaldine, home of the “Tree of Knowledge” (where the Labor Party was formed). Then on to Ilfracombe (the Wellshot Hotel) and Longreach (home of Qantas and the Stockman’s Hall of Fame). This afternoon we inspect the Qantas Outback Founders Museum, and relax. Overnight at the Albert Park Motor Inn. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 | Sat 10 May 08 | Mt Isa . . . the home of Waltzing Matilda! We enjoy a leisurely country breakfast and travel to Winton. Arno’s Wall deserves attention as does the Waltzing Matilda Museum, then we depart and travel to Kynuna (The Blue Heeler Pub) for lunch and an ale on the verandah - life doesn’t get much better than this! Then settle down for a drive through some unique country to MacKinley (Walkabout Creek Pub) and on to Cloncurry and Mount Isa for our stay at the All Seasons Mt. Verona Hotel. (B,L,D)

DAY 5 | Sun 11 May 08 | Tennant Ck . . . it’s a vast, vast country! We have time to explore Mt. Isa and the mighty Xstrata MIM project, refuel and set off west. We pass through Camooweal and into the Northern Territory. On to the Barkley Homestead, then Three Ways (John Flynn Memorial) and Tennant Creek. Overnight at the Bluestone Motor Inn. (B,D)

DAY 6 | Mon 12 May 08 | Katherine . . . we of the never never land! We travel north along the Stuart Highway to the old telegraph station and then on to the famous Daly Waters Pub for lunch. On to Larrimah and Mataranka, “We of the Never Never fame”, to visit the Elsey Cemetery before we arrive in Katherine for our stay at the beautiful Knott’s Crossing Resort. (B,L,D)

DAY 7 | Tues 13 May 08 | Kununurra . . . into a different world! This morning we begin our West Coast Adventure of a lifetime and travel west along the Victoria Highway to Victoria River and Timber Creek. Upon leaving Timber Creek we follow alongside the mighty Victoria River for a few Kilometres before heading inland and passing the turnoff to Bullo River Station, once the home of Sara Henderson, the well known author of “From Strength to Strength”. We cross into Western Australia (our 4th State in seven days) and on to the Ord River Scheme, Argyle Dam and Kununurra for our stay for the next three nights at the beautiful Lakeside Resort. DAY 8 | Wed 14 May 08 | Lake Argyle . . . the mighty Ord River! Kununurra is a modern town and the centre for the mighty Ord River Irrigation Scheme. We explore the town and environs including the view from Kelly’s Knob. We have optional fl ights over the Argyle Dam, the Ord River on to the Bungle Bungles and returning via the Argyle Diamond Mines. The fl ights take about two and a half hours and will afford you one of the best views of the magnifi cent Kimberley region you’ll ever have. Alternately you may like a shorter fl ight (35 mins) over the Ord Scheme (the Packsaddle and Ivanhoe Plains Irrigation Areas), the Carr Boyd Ranges, the Argyle Dam wall and Lake Argyle. With so many options available this will be a free lunch day after which we will meet again to be taken on a tour of the Ord River Scheme visiting tropical agricultural farms producing such a variety of products such as sugar, melons and special fl ower crops. To fi nalise our visit we will be taken on a fabulous Sunset Cruise of Lake Argyle to see the diverse wildlife that inhabits the shores at dusk. Hand feed fi sh and freshwater crocodiles (if you’re game) and meet a family of Euros who have lived on a small island since Lake Argyle was fi lled in 1974. We enjoy champagne, drinks and nibblies as a beautiful sunset unfolds. What a day! You’ll sleep well tonight. (B,D)

DAY 9 | Thurs 15 May 08 | El Questro . . . the El Questro experience! Join our optional tour to Wyndham and explore this historic town with its rich links with the Australian pearling industry; examine the biggest crocodile you’ll ever see before making our way onto the Gibb River Road en route to the famous El Questro Station. We trek into the El Questro Township ready for our cruise on Chamberlain Gorge. Our alternate activity will be an exploration of the Hidden Valley NP. Then back to Lakeside for our fi nal night. DAY 10 | Fri 16 May 08 | Halls Creek . . . pink diamonds galore! After a leisurely breakfast we depart via the Great Northern Highway through Turkey Creek for our special surface tour of the Argyle Diamond Mine followed by a wonderful lunch. Then on to Halls Creek for our overnight stay and the fabulous home cooked meals of the Halls Creek Motel. (B,L,D)

DAY 11 | Sat 17 May 08 | Fitzroy Crossing . . . exploring the Kimberley! This morning we travel to Fitzroy Crossing and on to Brooking Springs at the entrance to Geikie Gorge National Park for our cruise back into history on Geikie Gorge. The walls of the Gorge are embedded with fossils (part of a 350 million year old Devonian Reef) and the fresh water life includes sharks, stingrays, crocodiles and swordfi sh that have adapted to the fresh water. Cruise the Gorge that inspires photographers and artists from all over the world. Then it’s back to Fitzroy Crossing for our overnight stay at the historic Fitzroy Crossing Lodge. (B,L,D)

DAY 12 | Sun 18 May 08 | Derby . . . down the Gibb River Road! Today we travel towards Derby where we transfer to our special bus in order to explore the Devonian National Park in the King Leopold Ranges. On past limestone ridges, remnants of ancient coral reefs of unmatched grandeur, to spectacular Windjana Gorge with its limestone cliffs rising to 100 metres. These massive ancient coral reef structures were formed 600 million years ago and rise majestically from the fl at plains. Then we travel to Tunnel Creek, where we have the chance to explore and, for the adventurous, either walk or swim through Tunnel Creek - a tunnel carved by erosion through the Napier Range. We return along the Gibb River Road to Derby for our stay at the King Sound Resort. (B,L,D)

DAY 13 | Mon 19 May 08 | Derby . . . a thousand islands! We rise for our special seaplane flights (optional) to land at the Horizontal Waterfall in the Buccaneer Archipelago. Here we transfer to a Sharkcat jetboat to speed through the falls once or twice! Wow! Adrenalin Plus! Our flights are limited to 10 at a time, so as we wait for our fl ight we can explore Derby, a unique place with its giant Boab trees (believed to be 500-1000 years old) and fascinating Jetty that hosts the highest tides in the Southern Hemisphere (with king tides rising as high as 12 metres). Visit Wharfingers House Museum, or just relax. What a great day it’ll be! This afternoon we enjoy the great pool and facilities at the King Sound Resort. (B,D)

DAY 14 | Tues 20 May 08 | Broome . . . exquisite pearls and diamonds! We enjoy a late and leisurely breakfast before we depart for Broome, the northwest tourist Mecca. We take our local guide on board who outlines aspects of the vibrant history of this special place. After we book into our hotel, which overlooks the turquoise waters of Roebuck Bay, we visit Cable Beach (22 kms of white sand and clear tropical water); the perfect spot to relax, swim and to enjoy champagne and Australia’s best sunset. Tonight you’ll experience the ‘Stairway to the Moon’ phenomenon from the Mangrove Hotel. (B,D)

DAY 15 | Wed 21 May 08 | Broome . . . pearls, diamonds and fun! Today we do the tourist bit with free time to wander through Chinatown, the original commercial centre of Broome, once a bustling hub of pearl sheds, billiard saloons, entertainment houses and Chinese eateries. It is now the home to some of the world’s finest Pearl Showrooms. Explore the Courthouse, Tourist Centre, and the Shell House of Guy Street, which will captivate you with its myriad of different shells and fine jewellery on display. Your hotel is just a short walk to the hub of Broome and the markets, so shop till you drop or just enjoy the tranquility of the pools at the Mangrove Resort. (B,D)

DAY 16 | Thurs 22 May 08 . . . having to leave paradise! Alas, we bid farewell to this magic place as we board a Qantas flight to Sydney. (B,L,D)
