Visit Bathurst, Orange, Dubbo, Cobar, Wilcannia and Broken Hill. Explore Broken Hill, visit the Silver Mint before travelling to Peterborough and Port. Travel into remote desert regions of South Australia to Roxby Downs and a tour of the giant Olympic Dam mine. Explore Space Park at Woomera and on to Coober Pedy. Town and mine tour, opal cutting demonstration, explore the beauty of the Breakaways. Travel through Marla to Erldunda. Explore Kings Canyon, climb Uluru (Ayres Rock), walk through Kata Tjuta’s Olga Gorge over two days. Camel rides at Orange Creek Station, Alice Springs for two nights, Eastern and Western Macdonnells, Simpson Gap, Standley Chasm, Namitijira’s Twin Gums and grave, Connellan Airways and much more before returning to Sydney on a Qantas flight.



DAY 1 Saturday 4 March 2006
. . . let’s experience the Outback! We depart early making our way across the mountains to Bathurst for our first stop with time to explore. Before leaving, we take our coach around the great Mount Panorama Race Circuit, and then it’s on to Orange for lunch. We explore this fabulous inland city before we settle down for our run to Dubbo our stay at the Dubbo Country Comfort Motor Inn.
DAY 2 Sunday 5 March 2006
. . fascinating Broken Hill. Departing Dubbo, we travel through Nyngan, Cobar and historic Wilcannia en route to Broken Hill. We explore Broken Hill and its magnificent historic buildings including Mario’s Palace Hotel (from Priscilla – Queen of the Desert) as well as the Silver Mint with its jewellery, art and unique panorama painting. We stay at the Old Willyama Motor Inn.
DAY 3 Monday 6 March 2006
. . . desert, gold and uranium! We travel to Peterborough and Port Augusta for lunch and time to explore. We have time to visit the Australian Arid Lands Botanic Gardens to familiarize ourselves with the unique plants that are vital to this desert area of Australia. Then its off to Woomera where we have the opportunity to retrace the heady days of Australia’s space efforts at the Space Park display, or have a game of ten pin bowling at Australia’s remotest bowling alley. We travel into the desert where the temperature will steadily climb as we reach Roxby Downs and check in to the 4 star Roxby Downs Motor Inn and hit the pool before dinner.
DAY 4 Tuesday 7 March 2006
. . . rockets to opals! Today we rise early and are escorted on a surface tour of the mighty Olympic Dam gold and uranium mine – the biggest mine of its type in the world. Then it’s on to Glendambo and Coober Pedy for a town and opal mine tour before we settle down for our stay at the Opal Inn.
DAY 5 Wednesday 8 March 2006
. . . remote South Australia! This morning we travel to the mysterious Breakaways with its myriad of colours (Priscilla, Mad Max. Pitch Black and other movies were made here!) Then on to Marla and Erldunda for our overnight stay at the Erldunda Desert Oaks Resort.
DAY 6 Thursday 9 March 2006
. . . Uluru and Kata Tjuta! We travel to Mt Connor and Uluru today. We make our way to Uluru (Ayres Rock) in time to climb or walk the base. The choice is yours. Yea! we came, we saw, we conquered!. During the afternoon we visit the Uluru-Tjuta Cultural Centre for lunch before we head off to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) for a canyon walk in the cool of the afternoon, upon our return we watch the tourists at Sunset Strip as the colour changes of Rock with the setting sun. Here you’ll be treated to our own black tie champagne service. We have dinner at the Outback Pioneer Hotel Aussie BBQ, before settling down for our late return to Erldunda Desert Oaks.
DAY 7 Friday 10 March 2006
. . . Kings Canyon and bush tucker! Today we make our to Kings Canyon; you’ll have a chance to “walk the rim” or stroll up the canyon before we travel on to Alice Springs and our two night stay at the Alice Springs Aurora Motor Inn directly on Todd Mall. Tonight you’ll enjoy the unique tastes of bush foods at the fabulous Red Ochre Restaurant.
DAY 8 Saturday 11 March 2006
. . . exploring the Alice! This morning we travel the Western Macdonnells to Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm, Namitijira’s twin ghost gums and grave, Connellan Airways and much more, leaving the afternoon to shop and explore this unique place. We dine again at the Red Ochre Grill and afterwards, some of our group will take a limousine to the Lassiter’s Casino to watch the locals at work.
DAY 9 Sunday 12 March 2006
. . . time to fly home! This morning we catch up with last minute shopping options before we are coached to the airport to catch our Qantas flight back home to Sydney.
