Perth is a city of phenomenal natural beauty and
historic architecture, we explore aspects of this
beautiful city during the morning, before our cruise
down the Swan River to Fremantle.
Fremantle is an historic city that was transformed by
the America’s Cup. The choice of activity is yours, use
the time to visit many of the museums (the Maritime
Museum, the Historic Boats Museum, the Energy
Museum or the Shell Museum), take a tram tour down
the Cappuccino Strip for an alfresco snack or a full
lunch from the many restaurants available. Return

... rolling plains of wheat!
We travel south west through massive wheat
plains to historic York, Brookton, Corrigin and Hyden.
Visit The Dog Cemetery. Experience the beauty of
Wave Rock and the fabulous hospitality of Hyden

DAY 4 | Wed 28 July 2010 | Albany
... whale oil and perfume!
Travelling south we pass through the Stirling NP
with its unique wildflowers and then we tour the
fascinating Mt Romance Bodycare factory. Smell
extracts destined for perfume blending throughout
the world and learn about extracting Sandalwood oil
before we head to Albany. This once famous whaling
town has so much to offer, it is “a beautiful town in
a beautiful setting”; we have free time to explore
before our visit to Whale world; a fascinating whaling
museum, created from an operational whaling
station. Experience Albany’s seafaring history first
hand, before making our way to the Dog Rock Motel.

DAY 5 | Thurs 29 July 2010 | Esperance
... white sand & turquoise waters!
We have free time to explore this vital town before we
set off through Ravensthorpe, once a great gold and
copper mining town, to Esperance and a visit to the
nearby Cape Le Grand NP. We experience the white
sand beaches and turquoise waters together with the
unique rock formations, before our overnight stay at
the Bay of Isles Motel. (B,L,D)
DAY 6 | Fri 30 July 2010 | Kalgoorlie
... into gold country!
We travel north, skirting the edge of Lake Dundas
with its bird life, and passing through such remote
towns such as Salmon Gums and Grass Patch, en
route to Norseman. Here we visit the old mine site before making our way to Kalgoorlie for our two night
stay at the All Seasons Plaza Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 7 | Sat 31 July 2010 | Coolgardie
... Tonka heaven!
Any visit to Kalgoorlie must start at the Super Pit –
possibly the largest open cut mine in the world; the
sheer scale of the operation will amaze you. We
tour the central area of the town to appreciate the
beauty of Kalgoorlie’s public buildings. We also visit
Boulder and then travel to Coolgardie to retrace the
history of gold in the west. There will be time to shop
and explore this afternoon, or join us on a special
tour of the historic Hay Street Brothel. (B,D)
DAY 8 | Sun 1 August 2010 | Madura
... the vast Nullarbor!
Today we challenge one of the last great frontiers,
the Nullarbor. This vast treeless plain is the essence
of our challenging the unknown outback. But there
will be much to see; we take breaks along the
beautifully rugged coastline of the Great Australian
Bight searching for the migration of humpback
whales. Today we pass through Balladonia (the site
of Skylab’s fall from space) and Cocklebiddy (where
you’ll see a real tree) before reaching Madura for our
overnight stay. (B,L,D)
DAY 9 | Mon 2 August 2010 | Ceduna
... whales everywhere!
We pass through Border Village into South Australia
and head for the Head of the Bight where the whales
will be frolicking below the cliffs. There will be many Southern Right whales as well as, possibly,
Humpbacks with calves for us to enjoy. Then it’s on to
Ceduna and our stay at the East West Motel. (B,L,D)
DAY 10 | Tues 3 August 2010 | Port Lincoln
... exploring the Peninsula!
Today we explore Ceduna and the coast along the
Eyre peninsula. We first visit the Denial Bay Oyster
growing farms before travelling along the coast to
Murphy’s Haystacks near Streaky Bay. We explore
Coffin bay NP before reaching Port Lincoln known as
the seafood capital of South Australia. There is much
to see and do in Port Lincoln, experience the museums,
the arts and craft, or go fishing for King George
whiting – Yes, we have charters available. Overnight at
the Port Lincoln Hotel. (B,D)
DAY 11 | Wed 4 August 2010 | Clare
... heading home!!
We rise early and make our way north to Cowell and
on to Lucky Bay in time to board our Spencer Gulf
Ferry to sail across the bay to Wallaroo. Then we
travel to Adelaide to board our Qantas flight back to
Sydney or Melbourne. (B) |
